Training & Assessment Routes

Novice Training

The novice route is a full training and assessment programme designed for operators with little or no prior experience. Training covers both the theoretical and practical elements, with assessment conducted by an NPORS-accredited instructor. Duration is 3 days from £850 + VAT.

Experienced Worker Test (EWT)

The EWT is an assessment-only route for operators who already have practical experience on the relevant machine. It is a shorter assessment that tests both knowledge and practical competence. Duration is 1 day at £375 + VAT. Previous experience must be demonstrated.

Course Outcome

Successful candidates who complete the Road Roller NPORS training or assessment will receive an NPORS operator card. Cards are issued directly by NPORS and are valid nationwide.

Depending on the route taken, candidates receive either a Traditional NPORS card or an NPORS CSCS-embossed card. The CSCS-embossed card satisfies site access requirements on projects where a CSCS card is required.

Operators who complete the novice route may also progress toward an NPORS CSCS Red Trained Operator card upon completion of a recognised NVQ, leading ultimately to the NPORS CSCS Blue Competent Operator card.
