- Primary survey and managing an incident in a remote environment
- CPR and AED use outdoors
- Improvised equipment and carrying techniques
- Hypothermia and environmental cold injuries
- Heat illness and dehydration
- Bites, stings and anaphylaxis in outdoor settings
- Fractures and dislocations: improvised splinting
- Head and spinal injuries in remote environments
- Wound management without access to clinical facilities
- Activating emergency services and communicating location
Certification & Validity
Successful candidates receive the NUCO Outdoor First Aid certificate, valid for 3 years. The course is designed to complement workplace first aid qualifications and is recognised by activity licensing bodies including the Adventure Activities Licensing Authority (AALA). Annual refresher training is recommended.
