What the course covers
- Responsibilities of a first aider and managing an emergency scene
- Unresponsive casualty, recovery position and CPR for adults
- AED use and resuscitation
- Choking in adults
- Bleeding, shock and circulatory problems
- Chest, head, neck and spinal injuries
- Bone, muscle and joint injuries
- Burns and scalds
- Eye injuries and poisoning
- Anaphylaxis, seizures and unconsciousness
- Medical conditions including diabetes, asthma and heart attack
- Record keeping and statutory reporting
Certification & Validity
Successful candidates receive the NUCO First Aid at Work certificate, valid for 3 years. Requalification must be completed before the certificate expires. HSE recommends annual refresher training throughout the certification period to maintain competence.
