Trade & Plant Occupations
NVQ qualifications for skilled trade workers and plant operators. Achieve your Blue CSCS Skilled Worker card through on-site assessment and training.
About These Qualifications
Job-role specific NVQs are used to demonstrate occupational competence and are required before a candidate can gain a Skilled Worker CSCS card. Build UK contractors insist that everyone working on their sites holds (or is working towards) a CSCS card specific to their job role -- whether they are a groundworker, steelfixer, plant operator, or any other trade role.
All trade and plant NVQs are delivered via the OSAT (On-Site Assessment & Training) route, which is typically completed over 2-4 site visits subject to the candidate's experience, evidence held on record, and the intensity of the qualification being undertaken.
Over the course of the qualification, evidence is collated by the candidate and assessor in order to build a portfolio meeting the criteria outlined by the awarding body (NOCN, ProQual, or SQA).
Evidence Requirements
Evidence must be obtained using all of the following methods:
- Observation of performance by the assessor
- Witness testimony by an expert witness
- Professional discussion with the assessor
- Documentary evidence from the workplace
