Level 6 NVQ Requirements: Who Can Enrol and What You Need
The Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Construction Site Management is a work-based qualification. There are no formal academic entry requirements — but there are practical ones. This guide explains who can enrol and what you need to bring to the process.
Who Is This Qualification For?
The Level 6 NVQ is designed for construction professionals who are already working in site management roles — or those who are actively stepping into that responsibility.
Typical candidates include: site managers, project managers, construction managers, and senior supervisors taking on management accountability.
There is no upper or lower age requirement. There is no requirement to have completed any prior academic study or hold previous qualifications.
Experience Requirement
The core requirement is that you are currently working in a construction site management role, or have recently done so. The qualification is assessed entirely on real work evidence — which means you need access to genuine site management activities and documents.
Candidates who are not currently site managing, or who are very new to the role, will find it harder to gather the evidence required. This is a qualification for practitioners, not trainees.
What Evidence Is Needed?
Evidence is drawn from your day-to-day site management work. Typical examples include: risk assessments and method statements, site programmes, management reports, safety inspection records, meeting minutes, briefing records, quality documentation, procurement records, and records of managing your workforce.
Your assessor will agree an evidence plan with you at induction, based on your specific role and the work you do on site.
Evidence can be submitted digitally — photos, scanned documents, video clips — so you do not need to transport physical paperwork.
No Exam or Classroom Requirement
There are no written exams and no classroom attendance required. The entire qualification is assessed through your portfolio of evidence and a professional discussion with your assessor.
The professional discussion is a structured conversation to confirm that you understand what you do and why — it is not a test and does not require specific revision.
